Love is patient
Because I love you
Love is Patient, Love is Kind
You hear the empty words of rhyme
Is it true, you do not know,
Could someone really love you so?
You have had pain and heart break too
And been forced to things you should never do
Your “love” if they can be called such a thing
Looks at you full of disdain
They throw you out and cut you loose
If only they had seen the truth.
Time goes on and you grow up
Inside you are still a skittish pup
Many lie and try to deceive
You don’t want the hate and misery to repeat
Soon you find a possible “ONE”
Their kindness can compare to none
You look to your side and see a face
So peaceful and so full of grace
They smile as they hold your hand
And lift you up to stand on land
Encouraging and steadfast to you
They change your heart to be brand new
Within your soul the best they see
Nothing to them is a mystery
Trouble comes but you are all they see
Danger will soon have to flee
As the shadows near and divide
You and your love by the rising tide
They call your name, and you call theirs
But the darkness takes away all the air.
Now that the torment has past
The light returns free at last
When asked why it is you they pursue
Their answer is “Because I love you”
Love is patient, love is kind
These words will be true for all of time.
