Love for Poems

Poetry will always be my first love,

No matter how great I become in math, science, history,

There is always a place in my heart for the art of words,

Words on paper allows me to envision a world beyond the pages,

Where I am not a “failure,”

Where I never disappoint,

And always perform,

Before I had no friends,

No smiles,

No joy,

Writing gave me identity,

Poetry lives vicariously through me,

For that I am perpetually grateful.
