Love is Like a Rose

Love is like a flower.

When you meet your match,

The buds begin to grow.

As you fall in deeper and deeper,

The petals begin to show.

Love needs to be protected.

It will not always be treated with a gentle hand.

Things may try to squander it.

Without protection, how will it stand?

Every love has thorns.

They may seem bothersome,

But they make the love stronger.

They protect it from whatever may come.

Like a rose, love can seem painful to touch,

But when it is threatened,

It survives nonetheless

Because of those thorns

That make it such a mess.

I used to hate poetry, but now I have a growing interest in the topic. I am trying to improve as much as possible, as I feel that it is something that may make my education easier down the road. Constructive criticism is always welcome.
