Love Is Selfish

A healthy relationship,

what does that mean?

To care for and cherish

another human being?

To love is to be selfish,

to want someone, to need.

Love is the most advanced form

of the sin known as greed.

Your happiness is their happiness

no matter the cost.

To stand by each other's side

whether you've won or have lost.

Uncontrollable desire

avarice shown not even to Faust.

Love is a source of energy

unable to exhaust.

Trust and truth and infallible care.

Mistakes will come soon and often

All will lay bare.

Naked and vulnerable and easy to cut

Lies and subterfuge are eggshells

shattering with touch.

Trickery is unnecessary

no deception, no blinds

A dream of serenity prevails.

Two bodies;

one mind.
