As I close my eyes Ready for sleep I wonder how long You will be with me As you close your eyes I start to dread I must close my eyes And go to bed I can only trust That when I wake I will look into your eyes And not an empty space Of where you laid My heart thumped twice Didn't skip a beat Because I opened my eyes And there you laid Still next to me But I return to my dread Because the night has not end I must close my eyes And go back to bed But how can I sleep With the antagonizing fear That when I wake You will not be near I drift to sleep But not for long I open my eyes And find you still laying strong So I must think to myself My beloved will stay still So when I wake And seek for your beautiful face I will find much more Than saving grace I will see your face So filled with love Your smile so sweet So dipped in love Your lips so soft So drenched in love You kiss me so softly Love me so sweetly So sleep, love, sleep Now I trust That when I wake I will find you in the space Of where you laid
