love. smoke. fire.
The smoke from our fire lingers in my mind.
We burned down everything. Our love was unstoppable.
They used to say we kind of reminded them of those old cartoons
where when the two characters see
each other
their hearts pound out of the chest so hard you can see the imprint on the shirt.
We could recite our phone numbers backwards
I knew the exact shampoo you used
And you knew my cologne from anywhere
I guess to state the obvious the love was real.
You were all I could ever think of
You. You. You. You. Good God You,
Made my mind twirl.
I remember when we first said “I love you”
It was at the same time.
And it was awkward
But that was just our nature
Messy but messy together
You taught me how not to be afraid to love.
Like I was the dark.
Stumbling drunk and blind into a world unknown.
You taught me how to not be afraid to love.
Like I was the light
Stumbling drunk and blind into a place I am unworthy of.
You taught me how to not be afraid to love,
But like a storm you came and left.
Leaving nothing but my broken soul in your path.
My heart can’t take it.
It was supposed to be us forever
But now, our forever has passed us.
The blur that was our love.
Our souls like fire why did you have to go.
Why did we need to grow.
Can’t we just stick to what we know?
No one told me love would be this painful.
Not everything needs to die
Sometimes a bird with clipped wings can still fly.
When did you pass me by,
When did you stop needing me?
When did you stop loving me?
Why did your eyes stop twinkling when we kissed in the moonlight.
Why can’t I cry no more? Why can't I cry no more?!
I'm not done with these tears yet, they are the only things i have left.
Baby you took ya body.
You ripped ya soul from mine.
Uprooted my entire universe.
And left my heart with a hole that can never be filled.
Love.
What hurts the most is I'm managing.
As crazy as it seems.
Love.
I know that I could never replace you
But still I try.
I still try
Good God I still try.
Love
But no matter how many beautiful souls I encounter.
Love.
No matter who takes my breath away.
The smoke.
From.
Our.
Fire.
Still suffocates my mind.
My love.
It burns down everything.
but because I love my self.
i can no longer love you.
