A Love That's Worth Saving

A Love That’s Worth Saving

To love without limit, to forsake all others for the one.

To respect, to honor all the days of this life we are given.

To choose that person over everyone not because I have to, but because I don’t.

But because I want to, I want to love them, I want to stay for that person.

To have laser sharp focus on the wants and needs of someone else.

To trust someone with my heart and make them promise not to throw it on the ground.

To be someone’s everything on this journey we call life.

But love doesn’t come without an uphill battle.

To be able to see someone at their worse and still be just as compassionate for them

To flirt just as much as I did before they were mine

To never let the flame burn out because today it’s easy for wind or waters to come.

But dare I say, come wind or high waters, I will protect the flame with my life because love is worth fighting.

To search the earth without ceasing because the love I deserve is worth looking for.

To work on myself to be someone worth loving all lifelong.

To be the smile on my face, to be the song that I sing

But love in itself is a song, I have to find someone singing.

To sing the story of my life to someone

To whisper my secrets late at night to someone who will never tell

To laugh at my jokes that aren’t even funny

But the song can’t be sung to someone controlling, the secrets can’t be told to a backstabber and the laughter can’t be forced.

You see the truth behind love is you must be someone worth fighting for,

You must fight when their focus seems to be dull on your needs,

You must fight when it feels like your heart has been thrown on the ground,

You must fight for them on their worse day,

You must fight when the flirting stops,

You must fight to keep the flame from quivering,

You must fight to be someone to be worth loving,

You must fight to keep smiles on faces and songs on lips,

You must fight to keep the secrets,

You must fight to keep the laughter alive.

Love is worth fighting for, as long as it’s a healthy, heart fluttering, lifelong love, now that’s worth saving.
