Love Through the Ages

As kids we were the best of friends, Never a need to make amends. When we played he was red and I was pink, It was as if time would shrink. When the lights went out we said goodbye, Its true what they say, time does fly. Same place, same time, Every day I knew he was mine. We grew together, side by side, Our mothers would say he was the groom and I the bride. The time came when Mother Nature took her claim, And he became the center of all my blame. Every single day I pushed him further and further away, Yet no matter what I did he would never stray. He made sure not to take things fast, I made sure he was my first, but he made sure he was my last. We started out young, meek and small, But now we are grown and we have it all.
