Love Unreal
She prefers the drama;
the narcissistic
alcoholic psychotic
playing on her emotions,
preying on her privacy,
betraying her trust.
The test of time
has repeatedly failed
to prove he’ll change;
yet she remains in the pain
of living in his illusion
he calls love.
Maybe for the sake
of the children, or
maybe in the name
of hope.
So broken and indignant
in her materialistic pursuit;
in her unrealistic relationship
resulting from lustful dreams
followed by their eyes
instead of growing wise
with their hearts.
Maybe someday
she will finally grasp
the handle on reality
that opens the hidden door
behind which overlooked
and forgotten men are
dying slow of a lonely heart.
For only a lonely heart
knows the appreciation
of true love.
