The Love We Share

“Call me when you get home safe!”

“Make sure to wear a jacket, it’s going to be cold out.”

“I saw this and thought of you, I hope you like it!”

“Of course I worry about you… because I love you.”

Love is a complicated,

simple,

wonderful thing.

It’s sharing the thoughts that crowd your mind, knowing no judgement will be passed

or planting roses in one’s heart where roots used to grow.

It’s sacrifice and compromise.

or harmonious laughter shared between two souls.

It’s a silent phone on a girl’s night out… and a “Have fun tonight, I love you!” reminder on your way out the door

or the cheers you hear for your many accomplishments.

Perhaps it’s the smile that radiates as bright as the sun when they pull you in tight

or the constructive criticism meant to build you stronger than stone.

It’s sharing your passions, your wonders, and dreams

or confessing your habits, vices, and fears.

It’s waking up in the morning knowing you are loved

or going to bed with no worries of being cared for.

To each his the definition will change

A concept with no concrete meaning

Yet

the idea of it has thrown the world into a frenzy trying to find this treasure.

They are there in those who you least expect

They are there in those you may snub

They are typically not the ones you may think

But they are the ones who truly love.

It’s the sacrifice, encouragement, nagging, and fighting we do

All because….

I love you.
