Love, Your Daughter

Thu, 07/26/2018 - 16:32 -- akilove

My father, my father, how much you mean to me,

You’ve taught me how to be mature, and good as I can be,

You help me up when I fall down, and tell me I can do it,

You give me strength when I feel small, so that I can push through it.

                         But there may be times

                            We just cannot agree.

And even though I drive you mad,

Peas in a pod are we.

My father, my father, you sacrifice so much,

And though you’ve given everything, you’re still used as a crutch.

You willingly give up your wants, and the dreams you put on hold,

To raise me and to make a home, and love me as you grow old.

                         My father, the sailor,

Who yearns for ship and sea,

Left friends and crew and came back home,

                                 For mother, sister, and me.

My father is still giving his everything away.

My father does so with no charge throughout each passing day.

The time has come that I go on and use what I’ve been taught,

From years and years of selflessness, so it’s not all for naught.

I’ll study hard and be the best

                            Teacher you’ll ever see.

I’ll go all out and make him proud.

                                  I love you lots, Daddy.
