Love Your Skin

Ebony, cocoa, rich deep brown

Creamy, pale, milky swirls around

Colors are colors, colors aren’t me

Those handcuffs are holding you back please set them free

Be happy with your skin, you are beautiful as the eye can see

You don’t accept your skin? How can that be?

Learn to love even though you have flaws

Never judge a book by it’s cover

Look into yourself and rediscover

Ebony, cocoa, rich deep brown

Creamy, pale, milky swirls around

Colors are colors, colors aren’t me

Those handcuffs are holding you back please set them free

From your nappy hair, to your “Black Live Matter” jacket pins,

You ask me “Why do I not fit in?”

Ebony, cocoa, rich deep brown

Creamy, pale, milky swirls around

Colors are colors, colors aren’t me

Those handcuffs are holding you back please set them free

You are you, and I am me
