Love Yourself

Always pleasing others' needs, never really focusing on myself, suicide in mind, feeling worthless. As the young person I was, I just wanted to be accepted with other people. I was young, naïve, stupid if I must say. Other children telling me lies and what to do just to get me in trouble and say they would no longer befriend me if I don't do what I'm told. As I then entered my tween days in middle school, I was independent. I was a teacher's pet. One day, a boy would get my attention and flirted with me. Seeing everyone around me being in a relationship I wanted to try it for myself. As the days went by, more boys would flirt with me, but they would also threat to never talk to me if I never fufill their needs. I was pretty naïve and desperate to try and be in a relationship. I should've relised sooner that none of them really liked me, that I was just their toy. I continued to be like this from middle school, to my freshman year of high school. People would consider every female derogatory word possible. Being made fun of everyday, grades continuing to drop, depression growing stronger every second. 10th grade year came around. I went back to being independent and learned not to talk to anyone about my problems, including my own family. As I figured out, nobody REALLY cares anyway. During the summer, I found a genre of music called kpop. Since I felt I had nothing better to do with my life I listed to the music, with subtitles of course. As I listened to the song "Fake Love" by BTS. I couldn't help but to break down and relate to it deeply. I soon found out that they were doing a campaign named "Love Yourself". Helping the youth to speak out, to say that you are worth way more than you think, it's ok to not blend with society, it's ok to not have a dream of what you want to do. I felt so relieved and moved by their campaign that I slowly, but surely, began loving myself. Now I'm 17, figuring myself out, not giving to someone else's needs. My grades have improved greatly and I have friends to help out during their dark times and vice versa. I now feel as if I have no insecuries. I express myself how I want and whenever I feel its necessary. No one will stop me from loving myself or being successful. Everyone, remember to love yourself, don't ever let someone drag you down with them.
