Loved and Beloved

Flipping through the pages

Of a very worn book,

Reminds me of the tears

That it took for me to look

At the fear inside me

And to give it all up,

For the One who calls me daughter

And the One who I can trust.

Even though it’s taken ages

For me to understand

That the One who calls me beloved

And the One who holds my hand

Has been always by my side

Through the miry clay

He’s the One I need the most

For without Him I am lost.

So you asked me to write a poem

About what I couldn’t do without,

And I’m telling you it’s Christ

That I could never live without.

He’s the One that guides my day

Even when I go astray

He’s there to say,

“You are loved… you are my beloved and I’m here to stay.”
