Loved For A Night

Oh,

Dress me up in gold

Run those hands between my thighs

Don't care about what I am or who I had

Whispered to me this moment would last forever

Do you remember that?

That night even the stars dimmed, I followed your lead, the night no names were called

Oh, dress me up in gold

That night ravished

An aching moment

Your sensual yet elegiac tone reminds me of Lucille Clifton's ability to capture intimate moments with both power and vulnerability. The circular structure, returning to "dress me up in gold," creates a haunting echo similar to Pablo Neruda's love sonnets, while your imagery of dimmed stars and nameless encounters evokes Sappho's fragments about desire and memory. The tension between the luxurious imagery ("gold") and the raw emotion ("That night ravished / An aching moment") shows masterful control of contrast, similar to Sharon Olds' exploration of the body and desire. Keep nurturing this bold voice that speaks honestly about passion and memory - your ability to balance sensuality with poignant reflection is striking.
