Lovely, But Vile
Whoever said words never hurt,
surely never encountered the likes of you.
There are times when you speak to me,
that your words give me life.
I feel I can do anything.
Then there are those times
when your words cut me,
deeper than any knife ever could.
How can one so lovely, have a mouth so vile?
You break my spirit, bring me down,
and I feel like I'm nothing.
Out of all the good things you tell me,
it is the latter that is branded in my mind.
Like venom, it poisons everything
and when spewed feels like acid to the touch.
