Lover's Glare

My Dearest Love,

Who does not think their love is fair and kind,

Not see the best in that which their love lies,

Find nothing but beauty in twisted mind,

Ignore the truth and fall into the guise.

Average face and heart of icy stone,

Turn to beauty with glare of lover’s lens.

See the best in that which they call their own,

For what one gets should equal what one spends.

And yet I find your heart consists of gold,

Strength and beauty take hold in human form,

Timeless grace that cannot vanish with old,

Your glow of sun never ceases to warm.

So why not let hope mask the minor flaw-

Perhaps inner beauty is what love saw.
