Loving Me For Me
You miss it
Miss me
The way I used to be
But I don't remember
Can't recall
A time at all
When I wasn't this
Wasn't the way I am now
You stand there
You stand here
And it just isn't the same for you
You tell me
And I can't remember
When this wasn't
What you wanted
You want the truth
But when I give it to you
You break down
You can't take it
And I can't fake it
I love you
And you know I do
Killing myself
Bending over backwards
To be
Just what you wanted
Me to be
You have two choices
You can stay
And take me
The way
I came
Or you can leave
But if I'd known
Had I truly believed
You'd break like this
Under the truth
I would've told you
A lot sooner
Whether this sticks
Or it ends
I just can't see the point
In playing pretend
Too old
Too damn old
And this heart
Is growing tired and cold
I love you
And I would miss you
Like hell
But it might be
Just as well
If you can't love me
For me
If it hurts
So bad
If it got so bad
So fast
Maybe you are better off
All along
Maybe you were right
I was wrong
Don't ask me
If you don't want to hear it
You weren't there
When I needed you
And now
You expect trust
And then you turn around
Say it's too much
I'm too much
But you stay
You say you love me
Whatever that means
To you
But maybe
I wouldn't mind losing this war
Because
If it's this hard
Loving me
For me
You have no business
Being with me at all
