Loving words

I listen to the words flow into the dusty air

passion flows like blood from the woman standing there

I watch as she will close her tearful eyes

and the audience lets out an empathetic sigh

her words provide an imagery

things we never would believe

if not for a woman with a microphone

on a stage...all alone

as I listened to her poetry

the words opened my eyes to see

the heart of every person; feelings otherwise unseen

from things we love to things we wish had only been a dream

poetry is a way to convey

the things we simply dont want to say

a crowd of ears listens in to her words, graceful and grand

because poetry has finally allowed us all to understand
