Loving You is What I Love to Do

In the early summer mornings,

when the dew lays on the grass,

you say you love me and when I’m with you no harm shall come to pass.

Wherever my life takes me,

however far I fly from home,

when I return, I’ll come back to the greatest love that I’ve ever known.

As my days at home are ending,

and it’s time for me to go,

you say son if you remember one thing, there’s one thing you need to know.

I’ll take care of you, as long as you need me to.

I’ll take care of you, because loving you is what i love to do.

In college I’ll miss you.

No matter how many times I call,

I’ll be packing my bags and coming home to see you every fall.

When I’m grown and in the real world,

with my own family,

I’ll share with my kids the same love that you’ve shared with me.

And I’ll tell them

I’ll take care of you, as long as you need me to.

I’ll take care of you, because loving you is what i love to do.

As the winter is getting cold now,

and your hands are growing frail,

there’s no need to fear because I will be right there.

As the wick is at its end now,

and the light starts to grow,

don’t worry, you will never be alone, because

I’ll take care of you, as long as the good lord allows me to.

I’ll take care of you, because loving you is what i love to do
