Low Echos and Scratch Marks
So denizen rise and rise again
Over the fields we’d heard of then
Of the cobblestones we used to move
The piercing tips are now worn smooth
We’re almost done, we’re almost there
To finally finding anywhere
I’m slowing down to match the pace
As the world goes by each passing face
First gold then blue then red then brown
Watching all our spurn go down
I’m still here waiting for you to arrive
Across the meadow before the sun would dive
You answer to me, but was it a question
Was it a folly of mine that simple suggestion
But for now I wait, wait up for you
Before I’ve realized we’re already through
