LOYAL
I see the puppies,
coddled and stroked-
cooed at and held.
So innocent and sweet,
as they nibble at your fingers.
I see the dogs
as they stand
by an owners side-
loyal ‘till they die,
always there to
make you smile.
I see the old dogs
snoozing by your side.
They love you so much-
they loved you when they died.
But I am not a dog. I am a bird,
forever free to fly.
I'll never hold fast to a loyal world,
a world where I have never
touched
the
sky.
