Lucid Dream

For a short time in my life

I had the time of my life

The type where time is the last thing on your mind, when you didn't even notice the sunset, and then it starts to rise, alive.

When I was with you, I felt alive.

Laughter fueling energy, smiles that formed naturally, you made me fall so casually, I didn't realize I'd hit the ground.

At first I was just dizzy,  but the emotions evolved so quickly, I didn't think of the possibility, that you might not be around.

I trusted you, took your empty promises as truths, I believed in you, in us, in me, how naive. You were as real as a dream, and it hurts me to think that's all we'll ever be.

We never stood a chance.

Last night we sat and talked

We stopped and stared

Our lips met briefly

And then you weren't there

I seen you in a dream

Behind closed eyelids

And messy hair

You existed for just a moment

Then vanished in thin air

Were you ever there? Was it ever real?
