Lunar Concert

Play me a melody & I’ll sing you to sleep, Pretty Blue Baby. You love it when they sing. I held Blue in my arms once, I sang Blue a lullaby. Goodnight to the six months we were; Goodnight to the hearts we left behind. But tell me the truth: How does he sing now? Are you happy now? We went to the moon and created a mystical kingdom where moonbeams dance as we played our coral song. I remember how your green eyes sparkled and reflected the Earth. I said, You’re a prettier version of Elvis. But I only remember your existence when I’m alone. I forget to breathe sometimes because I think so hard. & when Blue shattered my soul it was like time slowed down. But now I know I was just aroused and remembered more detail. That’s why when you almost die, time ostensibly slows – your brain won’t let you forget. I guess time is measured not in seconds, days, millennia But in dirty, stained detail. It felt like I was blue forever.
