The Lungs of the Earth

Agonizing screams fill the air,

breaking the gentle silence once there.

Nobody hears the desperate despair

But those who do haven't the slightest care

Do you hear it?

Shavings do fly and splinters do pry

your eyes to the scene,

yet the sight is not seen.

Oh, how they weep... oh, how they cry

Do you see it?

Splitting in half, cracking, then snap

The flesh is torn off

The victims pray it will stop

Roots high in the sky, their lives end with a flop.

Do you feel it?

Listen and hear the sight to be seen

Feel with your heart, and you will not demean

the victims who fall for you and me
