Lupe
Lupe
See her eyes on drugs,
Like languid stars.
See her lips in love
Like tangled arms.
Strangled in the shame
Of pink fur.
It was a velvet underground indeed.
Paint those doll eyes black.
Let the smack kill you.
Like Venus, she was in furs.
Like Silver hair, like silver spurs.
Walking tipsy on a wall in the
Early dawn because
You never went to bed.
You were too afraid of the
Monsters in your head.
Even deflowered,
That wild girl
Remained a
Wild flower.
In the cell of
Her eye slept
A dark hope,
A dark dream.
She wished she
Could believe in it,
But look at
What happened, what became of us.
Struggling to light that cigarette
Twirling around the dining chair.
She breaks like crystal glass
and had her own brand of class.
Her eyes on drugs,
Are languid stars
Her lips in love
Are tangled arms.
