The Lurking King

The Lurking King

Prowling proudly through the night,

Waking all those who have turned out the light,

Sprinting, sprinting, sprinting,

“Go to sleep you carnage causing beast!”

“Some of use are really beat!”

“Why do you sleep when it’s dark you lump?”,

“There’s so much to do, so much to long jump!”

But everyone’s snores surely made him quite bored,

So he jumped on the table and let out a roar,

“Shhhhhhhh!” everyone cried,

He began to sigh.

Then he looked up and saw an open window,

Excitedly he flew like a flamingo!

He looked out at the world and saw a larger tree,

He jumped to a branch and smiled with glee,

“I’ve made it,” he says, “I’m finally so high that I’m a king!”

However, looking around he started to cringe,

For he didn’t realize he was so far up in the sky,

The longer he was there, he began to cry,

“Someone help me please!  I’m going to die!”

I rushed out to see a pitiful sight,

The proud king now needs help from his blight,

But to save him from shame,

I grabbed him tight and took him down from his reigne,

“Now will you sleep with the rest of us tonight?”

“Yes mamma, I’ll rest without a fight.”

From now on he stayed in his bed,

Never again did he get a full head.
