Magnanimous

Magnanimous by nature

To be the bigger man

To never ponder petty deeds

And lend the poor your hand

Magnanimous by virtue

To thine own self be true

To be gracious in victory

And to give your foe their due

Magnanimous a leader

To love and to protect

To be noble and brave before a crowd

And before God genuflect

Magnanimous a servant

To aid in pensive silence

To protest immoral injustice

And turn your cheek for violence

Magnanimity is amorphous

For a king or for a slave

But whenever present is gratified

By good grace beyond the grave
