The Magnificent Tree
The Magnificent Tree
A girl so small was looking up the tree,
And wished so much to be as tall as thee,
And felt a pain that she could not be,
As tall as the magnificent tree.
The girl grew up with hopes and glee,
But wished so much to be free,
She saved and saved to flee,
But forgot she was nothing like the tree.
The tree was strong as brie,
And had so much but couldn’t flee,
But it was exactly where it needed to be,
Because it was a magnificent tree.
The tree itself couldn’t flee,
But the tree was free,
It was happy and wasn’t wee,
It was exactly the thing it wanted to be.
The girl knew better not to flee,
Because no matter what she knew she couldn’t be free,
She grew old with nothing and wished for me,
To be the magnificent tree.
