Make the Dead Minds Alive

A world so big with so many minds, idle, confused, waiting

I want to make a change for the pacing

Tired souls who live a blinded existence

A way to break free from the chains of illiteracy and ignorance

To revive the dreams and passions of the human heart and mind

To wake up, take on the burden, and stop wasting time

Everybody has the capacity to learn, to dream, to be passionate

Humans were created this way, we’re engraved with dreams

Every crevice of our bodies scream

With thoughts, ideas, words, and songs

But for some these are hidden under a dark unknown

Education, understanding, and a love for each other

Can awaken this place of immense potential hidden under a cover

Who will be the shapers, the molders, the bearers of knowledge and wisdom

Who will take to the rivers and roads to bring education directly into the vision

Of the neglected and darkened minds who have been abused by abandonment

Like a lost and scared sheep who has fled from the flock

The weary souls of the forgotten lie locked

In a cell that we have the key to

A lack of education cripples the human mind and hinders it from reaching its full potential and purpose

We must not fail to invest in the minority, in the unnoticeable, in the ones far away, they are worth it

Let us stop noticing race and start noticing the minds, the souls, waiting to be awakened

I wish to change the lack of education this instant

That pollutes this world with hate and indifference

I wish to take part in this awakening of the dreams and passions that are buried inside the minds of the forgotten

I wish to take part in breaking down the unnecessary barriers that hate and ignorance have begotten

And unite the cultures of this world

We are all equally capable to change a stone to a pearl

The question is who has the will

to be uncomfortable and brave, to cease to be still

to go to vulnerable and dark places where the light of education is waiting to be shined

lets explore the unknown together and make the dead minds alive

Thank you so much for the comment! I'm glad you appreciate my message. To answer your question, by education I mean a little bit of both. Part of this is bringing resources of learning to places that lack these things. These would be things like books, materials, and teachers who are passionate about bringing education to the places that need it. So, not a strict educational system but resources of learning to teach the basic subjects learned by you and I in order to broaden the minds of children and people in general who have lived without deeper understandings of life and this world. But it is also to learn in general by sharing and living life with one another, specifically people much different from you, and learning from one another resulting in a greater respect and love for each other. To conclude, the term education here is pretty broad but I hope this tells you a little of what was going on in my mind when I wrote this. Thanks so much for your question!!

- Bridgett

The Essence of Poetry

A very deep and meaningful poem. I enjoyed the adventure of entering your mind and thoughts. There is a good use of literary devices, such as similes and metaphors to emphasize the messages of your poem, which is love, education and globalisation= living harmoniously with the world and eachother as a people.

Just for clarification, what exactly do you mean by the word education? do you mean to say that it is essential for people to go through educational systems or that it is a nessecity that people should LEARN in general, despite being in a system or not?

Warm wishes,

Shamsa
