Make My Day
You were right
When you looked at me
And told me
I needed help
You told me
I was in too deep
But as I watched you leave
I knew
I could never turn to you
All those things
I never said
Just more tar
Like led
Filling up this head
Making it crack
As I race off track
Again
They say
Sticks and stones
Low blows
And I've taken them all
Over the years
I've kicked and screamed
My way through the tears
I broke down
Alone
I was alone
In the cold
Dead of December
You weren't there then
And you aren't here now
Just a shadow
Hanging over my head
Dragging me down
You could say
Whatever you wanted to
It wouldn't make a dent
What I felt
I needed from you
Is gone
I was dead wrong
When I thought I could turn to you
I was wrong
When I let you make me believe
I wasn't strong
And I was wrong
When I told you
You could come back
Over and over again
But this time
If you want to leave
Please
Don't let little old me
Stand in your way
I dare you to leave
And make my day
