To Make You Mine
I called you Daddy
In an unexpected email.
You said you loved me
You pulled me in.
I loved your openness
Your humor and wit.
I fell in love with the thought of it
Of us.
We haven't touched yet
Except where it counts most.
In the place deep down below the surface
The place where the soul lives.
You claimed me with your words.
I'll cling to them in darkness
When nothing's left but distant longing
Lonely nights filled with questions of what if?
One day we might be nothing but stories
A series of unlikely circumstances.
A glorious burst of crazy lust
Unfulfilled desires, tidal waves of hope and sorrow.
Do you know I can rip you open?
Do you know I can tear you apart?
I can see through you.
Do you know I can build you up?
Mend the hurt others have made you carry?
You can do the same for me
You have already.
Close your eyes and feel me there.
I'm on the wind that blows through your hair.
Can you feel me?
I'm calling out to you through time and space.
I wish, I want, I need
My voice travels great distances.
Can you hear me?
Across these thousands of miles
I dream, I breathe, I wait
I think of you.
I love you fiercely with unbridled passion.
I have waited.
I will wait.
I am waiting for you
So that I can make you mine.
