Mama

Mama, what's that noise I hear?
       Cries of freedom,
       Justice's song.

Mama, why'd that girl fall down?
       She tripped and fell.
       She'll wake up soon.

Mama, why's that light so bright?
       It's a bonfire, dear.
       There's a party tonight.

Mama, why's your shirt so red?
       The flower grows.
       The colors spread.

Mama, can't you hear my scream?
       The silence answers.
       Gunshots ring.

Mama, who's this man in here?
       The shiny gun,
       His steely glare.

Mama, what's this pain I feel?
       Deep inside,
       The color spreads.

Mama, shall I join you now?
       Lay by your cool skin?
       The ground is soft.

Mama, is this death?
      I'm scared.

Hi! I'm a college freshman who's very interested in language, reading, and of course poetry! I didn't know this site existed before, but now I'm incredibly excited and I will be posting some of my older poetry and then posting my silly little "thought poems" as I write them.
