Mama

Dear Mama,

my bloated baby belly,

proudly stuck out, protruding past a purple feather boa,

I've a tiara and yellow rain boots,

not much else,

but the house, my kingdom,

moonpie eyes,

and you chasing me around with the camera.

Catch me and tuck me into bed,

 lullabye,

 Rockabye baby,

you used to sing to me,

burdensome beast I was,

you changed the lyrics so Jesus would catch the baby, me.

I fell asleep to the silence,

glowing stars on the ceiling,

the air pregnant with your prescence,

the romanticism of a moment,

I miss your voice.

soft soprano singing the monsters out of my dreams.

who sings the monsters out of yours?

Love, your Girl.
