The Man

I saw him standing on the peer

The moonlight shining on his face

My soul it froze with total fear

And from his mouth I heard a sneer

So on the rail I had to brace

I saw him standing on the peer

The blood it poured like tavern beer

All from his side, a gaping space.

My soul it froze in total fear

His eyes then moved to me so clear

The air it hung with his disgrace

I saw him standing on the peer

The way he looked, it was so queer

A man who had seen none of grace

My soul it froze in total fear

This man whose eyes held but a leer

Pushed off the Light upon his face

I saw his standing on the peer

My soul it froze in total fear
