the man

There was a man and a woman lying on a white bed.
Its morning. I think?
Soon they will be all awaken.
On the bedside table is a vase
of dandelions; sunlight
pools in their throats.
I remember when i watch him turn to her
as though to speak her FULL name
but silently, deep in her mouth--
At the window ledge,
once, maybe twice,
a beautiful angelic bird call.
And then she stirs; her body
fills with his soft breath.

I open my eyes; you were watching me.
Almost over this room
the sun is slightly gliding.
Look at your face, you would say over and over again,
holding your own close to me
to make a tiny mirror.
Aaah How calm you are. And the burning wheel
passes gently gently over us.
