A Man A Grandpa

He was my constant
A part of my soul
I hoped I would have for longer
Someone there to hold my kids
Just as he held me
All eight pounds of screaming baby

A man so proud of his hair
A grandpa with the beard
A man who could cast a line
A grandpa who always had stories
A man larger than life

He made us laugh
At the end
He made us cry
He made his way
Deep into our hearts

If he is listening now
If he is following now
If he is watching this cursor
Move across my page
I want him to know
I’m not just writing this for me
I’m not writing this for others
I’m not writing this for closer

I’m writing this because I love you
