A Man Named Walt

To the man with a drawing pad and a dream

I thank you for teaching me to gleam.

You faced the odds with a little rabbit,

but came out of the disaster with a new classic.

Animations were sketched and drawn out,

but this man named Walt had no doubt.

He altered the rabbit that brought him to shame,

and changed the name to bring him fame.

A while past before the debut of his new companion,

but Walt knew his creation was as grand as a canyon.

A little cartoon mouse was born from the ashes

and with this new star came a name that matches.

Mickey, the name of where it all begun,

wanted to be seen by everyone.

Even though the creation was a sensation,

It all started with a man with some motivation.

To the man with a drawing pad and a dream

I thank you for teaching me to gleam.

You faced the odds with a little rabbit,

but came out of the disaster with a new classic.

You taught me that “it’s fun to do the impossible”

and that I should never let fear be an obstacle.

You used your divine creativity to your advantage

even when you thought your career was damaged

Your animated shorts started an empire that will live on forever,

and I’m so grateful that you lit that ember.

You mean the most to me even though you are not around

because with your guidance, I can make it over the mound.

You’ve been apart of my life from a young age,

and that’s where I want you forever to stay.

I want you to know that you’ve inspired me profoundly

so much to the point that my writing has met no boundary.

To the man with a drawing pad and a dream

I thank you for teaching me to gleam.

You faced the odds with a little rabbit,

but came out of the disaster with a new classic.

You've inspired millions to make their dreams come true

and that is why I am thankful for you.
