Mango

My life is a mango.

Its scent lures you to taste

Even when danger awaits.

It appears flawless from the outside

But has bruises buried within.

You never know what's beneath

Its stubborn, reddened peel.

So many juicy details

Packed within the skin.

It tastes so sweet at times,

But some days,

You don't expect the rotten slices.

Hearing bad news is like

Reaching the pit

But lacking the ability to entirely

Separate it from the happiness.

Life yanks you around sharp turns.

A mango takes you by surprise.

It shocks me every day,

But I love it nonetheless.
