A Man's Field Coat
I'm just a little girl
In a man's field coat,
The coat's too big for me.
It's heavy on my shoulders,
And it hangs down to my knees.
The cammo pattern can't hid me,
That I know for sure.
I'm just a weak little girl,
Just a scared, lonely little girl,
A hesitant little girl that is me.
I'm just a little girl
In a man's field coat,
Trying to be strong.
But my shadow looks so weak,
And my hands look so small.
The coat makes me look bigger,
But when I take it off, you'll see.
I'm just a skinny little girl.
Justa small, innocent little girl,
An insubstantial little girl that is me.
I'm just a little girl
In a man's field coat,
But that doesn't mean I want to be.
I want to be strong, fearless, and tough,
And not labled for what people see.
But nobody can look past my skin.
Nobody can see my heart and spirit.
So until then, I'll stay a little girl.
Just an uncertain, unappreciated little girl.
A misunderstood little girl that is me.
