The Marathon of Life

I am a runner
I run in rain or shine
I run 10 miles on average every Saturday
I run 600 miles a year
I run marathons far and near

I have run 2000 miles in my life
That is half the country
I have run 4 marathons
Going on 5
I have run 6 half-marathons
Going on 7 & 8
This is what I do
I run and run
I keep running and running

Most would feel exhausted
However, it comes second nature to me
Most would focus on time and mileage
But I just run
I don’t even realize how much time goes by
Because I enjoy it
At times I lose touch with reality
One moment I think about my friends
Then about the pain
About the future
Then the finish and the medal
And when I am no longer contemplating
I see the finish line!
