Marguerite's Song

Power in my voice my weapon of choice.

Words like ammunition ready to fire

I know you can sense my burning desire.

I fight like earth wind and fire with the tone

of my voice you have no choice but to listen.

I know why the caged bird sings

Not being able to be lifted up by

It’s wings, forever trapped it seems.

Behind chains and broken dreams

You see I know why the caged bird

Sings.

Power in my voice my weapon of choice.

Words like ammunition ready to fire

I know you can sense my burning desire.

I fight like earth wind and fire with the tone

of my voice you have no choice but to listen.

I still rise like the morning sky behind these brown eyes.

I still rise, pain and tears surface from my cries

Ancestors never die cause, I still rise giving them

Life through the words I sing this is not a dream.

Power in my voice my weapon of choice.

Words like ammunition ready to fire

I know you can sense my burning desire.

I fight like earth wind and fire with the tone

of my voice you have no choice but to listen.

Internalized fear and doubt silenced me.

For I lost sight of the real me.

Awakened by reality that voice within me.

No longer silenced for I have to create history.

Power in my voice my weapon of choice.

Words like ammunition ready to fire

I know you can sense my burning desire.

I fight like earth wind and fire with the tone

of my voice you have no choice but to listen.
