Mari

Marianna

You semi-hipster arty thing-

I am inspired by you still

Yet in a cautious way

We have drifted apart and I suppose it’s inevitable

I usually don’t mind

Some days I mind a lot

But as I grow, those are becoming less frequent

It’s not to say I don’t miss you

But I feel more independent than I was

Freshmen year

When I was a bumbling thing

All’s well now

And you are still the statuesque thing

The masterful creator of cool surrealism

No longer do I feel the need to be a magnet

You were the Marianna in the book

Yet it’s evolved despite me

And so have I

And so have you

That is what life is

And despite it all,

I am very glad of it.
