The Marine

He came to the door, said “you ready to leave?” A tear fell from my eye, as it was hard believe. How could those few weeks go by so fast? I wish somehow we could just go back into the past. You said you wouldn’t get hurt, and that you’d stay strong, Said you’d be careful for you knew right from wrong. You’ll carry your weapon, bold and with pride, And whenever needed, stay in the sand in hide. You walked around the house for a second or two, And realized you’re little boy fairytale was now fully true. You looked at old photos, and the memories spent there, Wiped a tear from your eye, and wiped your hand through your hair. You packed your stuff, and gave me a hug, Said you’d never forget me, for me, you loved. You said you’d write soon, but not sure when, But the one thing you promised was you’d be back again. We’ll miss you so much, for that you know, But each day, for you, our love will grow. Keep us updated so we know you’re okay, And each day we hear from you, will be our new favorite day.
