Marine
Hip-ho-laydee-o
You lay-uff
Rye-t, lay-uff
Parris Island appeared in the darkest night
Oh, what a dreadful and heartbreaking sight
As they screamed, pointed, whined and ran us
Beyond our grey bus, with vigor and irritating fuss.
I thought of how my brother talked me blue in the face
How the Marines would improve my employment pace
I could serve my country, be provided a valuable skill
I learned my M-16 was not a gun but my weapon to kill.
I also learned the Navy would’ve been quite gravy
And deployments on water would’ve proved wavy
Oh if I would’ve known the bias of us so called BAM’s
Oh if I could’ve shown I gave less than a good damn’s.
I probably would’ve ended up less a Veteran Marine
I probably wouldn’t fight so hard to prove bias unseen
But I care, and dare Uncle Sam to deny our claims
I dare anyone to deny sexual assault does not remain.
My soul almost rotted and just about died
To find myself again was the hardest I ever tried
But onward I march with my depressed head held high
For God I live, but for this branch I won’t serve to die.
