Marionette

Most people look up into the sun And feel the joy of its rays, But its rays of happiness Can’t penetrate my onyx stone heart Because I can’t feel a thing Against the battered and bruised Flesh that covers the brokenness inside. Forgive me if I hate men Because my experience with them Is only pain! Sorry I can’t see past their Demand of proving their masculinity By hurting women And their pride to dominate. You see that all I’ve ever received From a man is abuse And the feeling of being used. Because unless you know the feeling Of the stinger penetrating the Lilly You couldn’t possibly understand What it is I’ve seen. If you don’t know the anxiety Of walking alone in a back alleyway, All you can think of is those Footsteps following you, Causing your heart to race Like a stampede in your chest As the pounding in your ears Makes you see the shadows Of your memories emerge. And you can’t stand another’s Touch because the ghost like Hands crawl over you from the memories of the past. Those hands they don’t just Disappear, they stay and Haunt you every single day. You try to push them back And lock them away deep Down in your chest And try to move on But how can you When you know that none Of your four attackers Has seen the inside of A jail cell? And when you finally Decided to let someone in Because his words of Compliments wash over you- Taking your vanity in his Calculations. And in the moment that His words coax you into A false sense of security He takes your flower And destroys it- Leaving you a broken Mass on the street corner. I don’t tell you my story For your pity, I tell you this story to Show you how strong A women can be. You see when a man Attacks a women He gets a sort of control On them, they hide Away from the world And shy away from human Activities. They control you Like a puppet master And you’re the marionette. They get a thrill from Pulling the string of your heart And enjoy tormenting you With memories that never Seem to fade, But let me tell you something Girl, you’ve got the ability To catch them off guard Because you have this thing Called will power And when you use it to its Fullest you can break Their control on you And be stronger than Any man dreamed to be. So girl, it’s time to cut the string.
