Marooned

Warmth.

Excitement.

Happiness.

Fulfillment.

These are the emotions I feel when I relay my success to the community that has

lied, cheated, exploited, killed, and even raped my kind.

Fear.

Rejection.

Uncertainty.

Anger.

These are the emotions that I feel when I relay my success to the community that has

nurtured, fed, supported, and raised me.

The community that has made me who I am today,

yet I feel the least connected to them.

A castaway, marooned on a desert island.

The hints of familiar memories bring him comfort.

The subtle dances of the wind become engraved in the desert sands around him.

He knows what's coming but he continues to yearn for home.
