The Marquis

Oases exist in the strangest of places,

Everyone needs an oasis

To step away-

From life-

For just a while-

I find my oasis sitting atop a ragged cloth

Enclosed by pounds of metal covered in clean fabric,

My right foot works the pedal

The twist of a key brings the engine to life,

I am in control and I am in solitude

My thoughts are free to roam as the radio spurs them on

My emotions are enclosed by the thick glass window

Unless I roll the windows down and scream them to the world

I have cried

I have laughed

I have sang at the top of my lungs

Sometimes I just sit in silence just because

My Oasis isn't beautiful to others my age

It comes across a little outdated

But I couldn't live without the refuge it provides me

My Mercury Grand Marquis
