Mary Ann

When I think of Grandma I eat watermelon on a hot summer day Turn on the television Drink a Diet Dr. Pepper You could never stand the taste of Coke When I think of Grandma I think of grocery shopping Bickering and rummaging I ask if anyone wants a bite to eat Assuming no one has eaten in weeks When I think of Grandma I put some Aqua-Net in my hair Tell a story of the old days I shove everything and more into my purse Watch “I love Lucy” and “Reba” Comparing my life to theirs When I think of Grandma I go back to church Eat rhubarb pie Hang up the phone mid-sentence Hug the stuffed bear she gave me Wishing that she was here When I think of Grandma
