Mask
In darkness, where no one sees
I begin to lose control
and succumb to the disease
that's slowly eating my soul.
But all you see is a smile,
a lie of nothing awry,
in my mouth you'll just incur guile
and never see me cry.
I keep emotions light,
and keep the mask, my ace.
But don't cast a light too bright
for you might see a saddened face.
But I'd rather you knew my situation
then who I really was,
a trapped soul with a sweet temptation,
instead hiding all her flaws.
So tonight will be the same
no one will break the cycle,
it's all an endless game,
to which we all are disciples.
